Elevator Outage Options

In case of an elevator outage, use the following options or contact the station agent for assistance. Agents can arrange a ride to a different station in an accessible van if needed. 

STREET ELEVATOR (14TH STREET/OGAWA PLAZA)

  • Can't enter station:   Take the alternative street elevator located between 11th and 12th Street on Broadway (0.2 miles).
  • Can't exit station:  Take the alternative street elevator located at the opposite end of the station (11th/12th Street exit).

STREET ELEVATOR (11TH STREET/CONVENTION CENTER) 

  • Can't enter station:   Take the alternative street elevator located on Broadway at 14th Street/Ogawa Plaza (0.2 miles).
  • Can't exit station:  Take the alternative street elevator located at the opposite end of the station (Ogawa plaza exit).

PLATFORM ELEVATOR 

  • Can't enter station:   Walk, roll, or take AC Transit 0.3 miles to access the 19th Street station street elevator at 1750 Broadway (between 17th St. and 19th St.).
  • Can't exit station:  Continue on BART to exit at another station. The closest station is 19th St. Oakland (0.3 miles)

 

Entering the 12th St. Oakland City Center Station

There are three levels below the street at 12th St. Oakland City Center Station. The first level is the concourse. The second level is the Upper Level (UL) platform. The third level is the Lower Level (LL) platform.

Two separate elevators are needed to get from the street to the train platform.

There are two separate elevators from the street to the concourse between 11th and 12th Street on Broadway and between 14th and 15th Street on Broadway.

Either street elevator will take you to the concourse level outside the paid area. Press "C" for concourse level.

When entering the concourse, you will be between 11th St and 12th Street. Travel approximately 90 feet to your left to reach the train platform elevator that is located outside the paid area. The train platform elevator buttons are labeled "C" for Concourse, Upper Level (UL) platform for the Pittsburg/Bay Point, Richmond bound trains, and Lower Level (UL) platform for the Berryessa/North San José and San Francisco bound trains.

The second elevator is located between 14th and 15th Street on Broadway. Walk to the opposite end of the concourse to reach the train platform elevator.

Exiting the 12th St. Oakland City Center Station

The train platforms at the 12th Street Oakland Station are located two and three levels below the street.

Two separate elevators are needed to get from the train platform to the street.

Exiting from Pittsburg/Bay Point, Richmond bound trains, you will be on the Upper Level (UL). The elevator will be towards the rear of the train at the far end of the platform. Press “C” for the concourse level.

Exiting from Berryessa/North San José and San Francisco bound trains, you will be on the Lower Level (LL). The elevator will be towards the front of the train at the far end of the platform. Press “C” for concourse level.

On the concourse level, between 11th and 12th Street on Broadway, exit the train platform elevator and travel approximately 60 feet to your right outside the paid area to the street elevator. Press “S” for street level.

There is another street elevator located on the opposite end of the concourse between 14th and 15th Street on Broadway.
